Wow it's almost been a year since I got my braces.
And a year since I completed my O levels too. That's fast.
I have been through a lot (of dental related stuff, i mean) before getting my braces,
from getting x-rays (killed my cells!),
waiting years for my baby teeth to fall out and my adult teeth to grow in
(still remember how it felt like to have a shaky tooth, so exciting to wait for it to drop out LOL),
extracting teeth,
and wearing a year of teeth plates (they sorta resemble retainers).
The teeth plates (plate only, actually) are really troublesome.
They have to be taken out during meals, and it's hard to speak properly in them.
Plus you have to clean them throughly or they will stink of expired saliva.
(Everyone imagine how expired saliva smells like! Imagine it now! HAHA!)
An experience which i am glad is over.
BUT but but I will still have to wear retainers after braces. Sad life.
My mouth will be full of metal for most of my teenage years.
And it's the later teenage years some more. The important image-is-everything years. fml.
(Plus people always like to take pictures of me laughing, where my braces can be seen in all it's glory, and my eyes look like slits, and i just look really horrible. fml again.)
Anyway, the most frequently asked question about braces is "Is it painful?"
And deng deng deng deng the answer is "No! It's really not, except for a few days after the dentist tightened it!"
Thank you. Thank you.
And the second most frequently asked question is "Does food get stuck in them?"
My answer is "Of course lah, bodoh! And eating oranges and mangoes is a bitch, cos fibres from those two fruits will always always always get entwined with the wire in my mouth, and I take a billion years to get all the fibres out of my braces.
Not to mention veggies, which are the silent killers, cos they are so obvious in your mouth but when they are stuck in my teeth I tend not to realise they are there cos they are so thin and flimsy and everything and I can't feel them.
Chunks of meat also tend to get stuck at the larger gaps in the braces at the back of my mouth too. These I can feel, and they are very uncomfortable. Makes me wanna throw away my image and just start digging them out in front of everyone. But of course I don't do that lah, if not i will really be left on the shelf for infinity!"
*I will continue this another time, getting a little restless now.
I realised I can't stay on one webpage for a long time, I have to switch pages continuously and read new material or I will start to get restless.
Must learn to focus already. Damn.
